Bowman Survey SUE Technician III - Tampa, FL in Tampa, Florida

Purpose

Work outdoors using electromagnetic equipment and ground penetrating radar to detect subsurface utilities. Also perform vacuum truck operation; perform utility mark out and surveying activities; and document work with sketches, photos, spreadsheets and/or written reports.?

Responsibilities

Leadership and Direction

  • Perform work under limited supervision. Receive direction on complex assignments with general guidance on execution. Work is generally reviewed by more senior staff to ensure application of sound techniques and principles. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.

At the Operational and Company Level

  • Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships with existing clients.

Do the Work

  • Proficient operation and extensive knowledge of vacuum truck and related equipment such as compressor blower, vacuum hose, air lance, jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, hand tools, etc.

  • Proficient operation and extensive knowledge of multi-frequency electromagnetic equipment including electromagnetic induction (EMI) and ground penetrating radar (GPR).

  • Perform SUE survey field work.

  • Prepare daily paperwork.

  • Train SUE Technicians I and II.

  • Use and interpret design plans and record drawings.

  • Use critical thinking and problem-solving skills to start and complete projects with limited supervision.

  • Interact professionally with clients.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required. Commensurate relevant experience considered.

  • Extensive knowledge of all phases of SUE field operations.

  • Five or more (5+) years as SUE Technician I/II or related experience.

  • Highly skilled in field operations.

  • Basic knowledge of land surveying.

  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and random thereafter.

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

  • Partly indoor professional office environment which may include bright/dim light, noise, fumes, odors, and traffic.

  • Mobility around an office environment.

  • Frequent and prolonged use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Primarily outdoor work environment which may include adverse weather conditions, varying temperatures, excessive noise, and/or potential hazards.

  • Mobility around a job/construction site to include walking, bending, crawling, climbing, squatting, or kneeling and wearing of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

  • Frequent and prolonged use of data collection equipment and/or drones, necessitating walking the assigned study area to complete data collection over the course of several hours.

  • Primarily local travel during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be required according to the needs of the business.

  • Occasional lifting or carrying up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional pushing or pulling up to 20 pounds.

  • Occasional reaching outward or above shoulder.
